Ingredients

Scale

2¼ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional: red and pink M&Ms or sprinkles

Optional: red food coloring

Instructions

1. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl.

2. Cream butter and both sugars until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla.

4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.

5. Fold in chocolate chips.

6. Cover dough and chill for 30 minutes.

7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.

8. Roll tablespoon-sized dough balls, flatten slightly, and shape into hearts.

9. Place cookies 2 inches apart on baking sheets.

10. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers are soft.

11. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes
