Instructions

1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

2. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and milk until smooth.

4. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

5. Divide dough in half, wrap tightly, and chill for at least 1 hour.

7. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into snowflakes, stars, or winter shapes.

8. Bake 8–10 minutes or until edges are just set; cool completely.

9. Prepare royal icing by mixing powdered sugar, meringue powder, and warm water until smooth.

10. Tint a portion of icing light blue and leave the rest white.

12. Sprinkle with white sanding sugar or edible glitter for a frosty finish.

13. Allow icing to fully dry before storing.

Notes

For crisp edges, chill shaped cookies before baking.

Use a fine piping tip for intricate snowflake designs.

Royal icing consistency can be adjusted by adding small amounts of water or sugar.
